This is the part where we make some kind of overriding statement about the state of "music" these days...but...who cares? Who wants to read some long-winded evocation about Beyonce, or whatnot? Yeah, nobody, ourselves included.

The Stoneking disc is cool. Picked it up while I was down under because I can't find it anywhere 'round here.
Whew that was close - just been working my way back thru you countdown thinking I'd better send you a "CW Stoneking - Gon Boogaloo" recommendation, then sure enough it pops up.
Well done spotting this record - easily the bluesiest funkiest grooves around last year. But I think you got it at the wrong end of your list maybe?
