Boogaloo Santa

Happy birthday Tom Waits! There's a good possibility we'll have a little something by Tom in our re-post area.

After the bummer that was yesterday's Xmas post, we feel like gettin' our groove on with a little Holly Daze dance party. Boogaloo indeed.

So get your Winter Solstice groove on with the twistin', swingin', and/or funkin' sounds of J.D. McDonald, Huey "Piano" Smith, The Marcels, and The Robin Sisters.

As we said at the top, we're gonna celebrate Tom Waits' birthday with a special edition of our bonus re-posts. Tom gives us his own unique take on "Silent Night", joins up with the Blind Boys of Alabama for a stompin' take on "Go Tell It On the Mountain", and, of course, gives us the immortal down'n'outer "Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis".

I've downloaded more songs than I'd care to admit this season and Chimney Top Twist is my favorite so far. Weeding through all my treasures at the end of a day means listening to some butt-ugly Christmas tunes. I'm happy (and grateful) to say that none of yours are among the painful and are actually some of the best I've come across. Keep 'em coming! And thanks a lot!
